Bellafill: a new class of facial filler to reverse facial signs of aging and treat acne scarring.
Bellafill is a new class of FDA approved filler that erases facial wrinkles and acne scars by stimulating your own body to produce collagen and replace its own lost volume.
Traditional hyaluronic acid facial fillers work by “filling up space” and stretching overlying skin while Bellafill actually causes your facial volume loss to reverse itself…making your skin appear more youthful and vibrant.
Unlike traditional facial fillers (which wear off after 6-12 months and require multiple replacements over the years), Bellafill lasts over 5 years.
What are the advantages of Bellafill?
- immediate correction
- long lasting results (5+ years)
- stimulates your body to reverse signs of facial aging by producing its own natural volume (which was lost as you aged)
Bellafill can be used for a nonsurgical facelift
“the Bellafill Facelift” is the new paradigm for a nonsurgical facelift due to its natural appearance and longevity..not to mention that it requires no surgery and no sutures.
Bellafill injections produce the longest lasting nonsurgical facelift (V lift). Most V lift injections are of short duration lasting 12 months or less on average. Bellafill has been proven to last 5 years or more.
By combining Bellafill with the Silhouette instalift (for those wanting correction of loose and sagging facial and neck skin but who do not want invasive surgery) the two major causes of an aged facial appearance are addressed:
- replacement of lost volume
- tightening of sagging skin and tissues
Controlled precision injection techniques used by Dr.Burke, including use of a blunt cannula with side port injection providing precision injection control while minimizing post procedure bruising and swelling.
Controlled precision injection techniques that Dr.Burke uses, described:
Dr.Burke uses state of the art computer digital imaging software and proprietary algorithms to guide placement of Bellafill. Controlled precision injection techniques developed through years of research and experience help plan exactly where facial fillers are to be placed, assuring more precise outcome control. Advanced injection techniques including use of a unique proprietary blunt tipped cannula technique, reducing bruising and swelling while permitting precision facial recontouring. This is “state of the art” controlled precision cosmetic surgery.

Nora was concerned about aging changes in her face but did not want any surgery. Specifically, she was bothered by hollowness under her eyes, prominent cheek folds, a reverse smile of her lips, jowliness, and a wide front part of her jaw.
This is Nora before Bellafill treatment. The photo on the right shows her photo in standard color (left side) and its digital comparison (right side). This digital comparison helps determine exactly where to place the Bellafill for optimal results.
This is Nora after a long lasting V lift with Bellafill. The photo on the right shows a comparison of her standard color photo and the digital photo created for treatment outcome analysis.

Recently FDA approved studies confirm the safety and effectiveness of Bellafill with over 5 year duration. of effect.
This is summarized in a recent article in Allure magazine. With most fillers lasting 6-9 months, this is a game changer in cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine. A typical patient might require as many as 10 or more injections of hyaluronic acid filler to equal one injection of bellafill over a 5 year period.
Here is Cindy today.
Bellafill is the only filler that is FDA approved for the treatment of Acne scars
Bellafill® is approved by the FDA for the treatment of acne scars. It is the only filler approved for this indication. Dr. Burke certified and trained in treatment of acne scars with Bellafill®. He is also an injection trainer and lecturer for Suneva Corporation.
A specially manufactured, wider shaped needle developed by Suneva corporation is used to create space directly beneath the acne scar (microsubincision), releasing scar tissues. This creates a space where the Bellafill is injected, elevating the scar to the level of the surrounding skin.
Wrinkles caused by repetitive movement
Repeated movement of the facial skin creates wrinkles. These wrinkles are “dynamic.” Age is a factor, but repeated facial movements, such as frowning or squinting also create lines, which means they can develop in younger adults. These wrinkles are not candidates for Bellafill® treatment. Dr.Burke treats these with Neuromodulators such as Dysport® or Botox®.
Wrinkles caused by volume loss and gravity
With aging, one loses facial volume. Wrinkles and folds begin to appear, later increasing in size and depth. The fat pads in our cheeks slide downward toward the mouth, which can cause the skin to wrinkle or fold, creating the “smile lines” from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). This also accentuates the tear trough region below your eye and may unmask the appearance of bags under the eyes or over the cheekbones.
Bellafill® is a unique, injectable collagen filler with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that instantly smooth facial wrinkles for beautiful, natural-looking correction that lasts.
Advantages of Bellafill:
- Visible correction with the very first treatment.
- The collagen in Bellafill® provides immediate volume and lift while the (PMMA) microspheres remain in place and create a matrix that supports collagen production in your skin for lasting improvement.
Where is Bellafill Injected?
Bellafill® injections are administered by Dr.Burke directly into the desired treatment area. Dr.Burke has been certified both as an injector and a physician trainer by Suneva Corporation for Bellafill® including the treatment of acne scars. He teaches injection techniques to physicians throughout the world. As a member of the physician advisory counsel for Bellafill®, he is among the first to hear of the latest developments and innovations.
Unlike other fillers, with Bellafill, the area is not overcorrected during the treatment of wrinkles. Because of the filler’s unique composition, the results of a Bellafill® injection are seen immediately.
The procedure takes just minutes to complete and is performed with a topical or local anesthetic to minimize discomfort.
Use of a Proprietary Blunt Cannula for Injection
Here Dr.Burke demonstrates the use of the blunt cannula for Bellafill injection into the midface. This decreases tissue trauma (as opposed to a sharp needle which could more easily puncture delicate blood vessels resulting in increased discomfort, bruising, and bleeding). With less bruising and bleeding filler placement accuracy is improved. This is a finesse procedure which takes years of practice to perfect.
How Bellafill® works
Bellafill® works in two ways:
- The collagen provides immediate volume below facial wrinkles known as smile lines to lift them to the level of the surrounding skin.
- The PMMA microspheres create a matrix that supports your body’s own collagen production.
Bellafill® is placed below the depression using a fine needle.
The injectable gel immediately adds volume to the skin to lift and smooth out wrinkles.
Side effects are minimal and patients are able to immediately return to their normal activities. As with any injectable filler, mild swelling or redness may occur. These side effects generally fade within twenty-four hours of leaving our Ann Arbor office. Rarely, mild bruising may occur for three to seven days. Results are immediate improvement continues over time.
Depending on the depth of the wrinkle or fold, more than one treatment may be required. Studies have shown results remaining up to five years after treatment completion.
