Cosmetic Facial Wrinkle Fillers
The face loses volume as one ages. This causes wrinkles to become more prominent and features to be less distinctive. Cosmetic facial fillers are used to subtly restore that volume. Dr. Burke uses them to help create a subtle, beautiful and natural appearance. They can be used for anything from smoothing a little wrinkle to evening out a deep furrow. Cosmetic fillers can help correct hollowness around the eyes, add fullness to thin lips, and balance a disproportionate face. They can be used to restore fullness that is naturally lost as fat diminishes from the face with aging, or to create stronger features such as prominent cheekbones or a more angled jawline.
The most exciting breakthrough in facial fillers has been the FDA approval of Prevelle silk which provides immediate reduction of moderate to severe facial lines. This is the first lidocaine containing hyaluronic acid facial filler which minimizes discomfort.
Noninvasive skin care treatments such as BOTOX®, microdermabrasion, glycolic peels and laser photorejuvination are often combined to add a more youthful, yet natural effect. They are performed in the office and are often referred to as “lunch time procedures”.
Dr. Burke prefers to use hyaluronic acid fillers, including: Restylane; Perlane; and Prevelle silk. The choice of filler is determined at the consultation and depends on the location to be filled and patient goals.
The Thermage system is also available and compliments both fillers and BOTOX®.
For those preferring the most natural filler - lipotransfer – the use of your own fat – is always an option.
