Silhouette InstaLift: an alternative to a facelift
Before & After Photo Gallery of Silhouette InstaLift: an alternative to a facelift
The SILHOUETTE INSTALIFT™ is an alternative to a traditional facelift for both men and women.
While traditional PDO threads used in threadlifting have many designs (such as barbs and double barbs) added to increase their traction and ability to lift sagging facial and neck skin, they are just not strong enough to provide long lasting major correction of sagging tissues.
This was solved by changing the design of the threads and using a different material. Small bidirectional, absorbable cones were added to the threads which are made of glycolide L-lactide (PLGA), a co-polymer which has been widely used in medicine for many years. Its long term safety is documented in the medical literature.
The result is increased ability to lift sagging tissues and hold them in place during healing. As the cones and threads are absorbed, your body produces lost collagen, further tightening the overlying skin, adding longevity.
Also known as the “Scarless Facelift”.

This is a before/12 month after photo of a male businessman who did not want a surgical procedure but wanted as much correction as possible.
Here is a before/12 months after photo of a busy professional woman who selected this procedure due to its ease of application and recovery.
As a threadlifting expert, Dr.Robert Burke was the first surgeon in Ann Arbor to introduce the Silhouette InstaLift™ threadlifting minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedure when it was FDA approved for clinical use.
Those wishing to erase years off their appearance and do not wish to undergo invasive surgery are the best candidates.
Here, a celebrity appears to age gracefully, looking more youthful during her 60’s than during her 40’s. The aim of this minimally invasive procedure is to help one age as gracefully and naturally as possible – so that no one can tell if you have had a procedure (and may think you are well rested or have just had a relaxing vacation).
Patient who had the procedure 2 years ago:
A busy professional woman who wanted to look her best in the most natural way, and who did not have time for a traditional surgical procedure and recovery. These are her before 2016 /after 2018 photos comparing her initial appearance with her present appearance. She reports continued improvement.
Why does she appear much younger? The silhouette instalift threads provided an initial repositioning of her loosened skin and stimulated collagen formation leading to stability of the result and continued improvement.
In the video below, Kim tells us why she decided to have the Silhouette Instalift:
Silhouette InstaLift is a minimally invasive in-office procedure which re-contours your face by lifting the deeper layers of your skin, creating a more youthful appearance. Dr.Burke often supplements this in multiple directions and planes creating a 4 Dimensional natural facial appearance.
Dr.Burke uses preprocedure realtime multidimensional digital imaging to aid in formulation of a treatment plan unique to you and your goals. You will be able to preview possible results on yourself before undergoing this procedure.
Description of the actual procedure:
During a short in-office procedure, proprietary Silhouette Instalift sutures are inserted beneath the skin to lift the deeper layers of the skin in your forehead, mid-face cheek, and neck areas. The treatment requires only local anesthesia, and typically takes 30-45 minutes. We also offer conscious sedation as an additional option for those who are anxious about having a procedure.
Can you help with anxiety during the procedure? I am very nervous.
For those who may be apprehensive or wish to undergo additional procedures at the same office session, monitored conscious sedation is available.
When will I see results?
Results are immediate (and improve over time as your own collagen is formed and the material is resorbed).
Do the results last? Is the procedure durable?
Dr.Burke has extensive experience over the past 5 years with threadlifting. He was one of the first surgeons in the United States to be approved for this procedure. Here is one of the earlier patients treated over 24 months ago. The before is on the left and the after is on the right. Her face continues to produce lost collagen, and tissues have returned to a more youthful position.
Recovery from the procedure.
Recovery is minimal. Initially there is a varying amount of swelling, and sometimes bruising. Although there is no reason one couldn’t return to reasonable activity right away, it is better to some time off work (depending on the type of work that you do). Swimming and heavy exercising should be avoided for at least a week.
Do you have patient examples?
This is a patient who presented for treatment of midface skin droop and lack of cheek contour.
She presented for treatment of midfacial skin droop with deep nasolabial folds, lack of cheek contour, and increasing prominence of acne scars from skin loosening and sagging. She did not want surgical incisions and wished to resume her normal activities as soon as possible. Here are the pretreatment photos:
These 2 photos show the markings on the right side prior to the procedure and the simulation of the degree of tissue tightening.
The photos below are the before/immediately after the procedure.

The unique Silhouette InstaLift sutures are naturally absorbed by your body over several months. The sutures stimulate the production of collagen naturally as they are absorbed, aiding healthy skin renewal for natural-looking, long lasting results.
